The Method Module

The yogaclasses in this course are suitable for any yoga student, even absolute beginners. This module is the most basic of the Foundation Course in terms of physical capacity, but the most challenging psychologically. The techniques used are chosen to clarify the interrelationship of the five techniques within the yoga method. Static yoga postures are linked by vinyasa into a dynamic yoga flow. The classes are based on the Dynamic Yoga Vinyasasuxmasya Training Series. Its yoga techniques are accessible to everyone, and sensitise all the joints and motor muscles.

The Method Course can fruitfully be repeated any number of times; not only because its exact presentation is determined by the students participating in it and is therefore different each time, but also because repetition is the essence of learning. It introduces and clarifies the five fundamental techniques of the yoga method: asana, vinyasa, bandha, pranayama and drushti. At the same time it clarifies their interconnectedness in action and awareness. This is focussed through the dynamic of structural integrity. Its unifying perspective is as useful as a finishing point as it as as a starting point. By preceeding the other two modules it contextualises them. If done after it clarifies them.

All morning yoga classes include guided pranayama and meditation practice. It is very unusual for the simple yoga postures, movements and sequences used to pose any difficulties, even for those with limited stamina, mobility or strength. The three Dynamic Yoga Foundation Course modules can be done in any order without diminishing their effectiveness.

All our yoga retreat classes are given within the fertilising context of patanjali’s ashtanga yoga, and link yoga postures together into a vinyasa flow of dynamic yoga practice ending with stillness in savasana and sitting, thereby balancing the 'yin' and 'yang' elements of traditional hatha yoga. All morning classes include guided pranayama and meditation.
