Windfire Yoga Retreat Intermediate Courses

The Dynamic Yoga Intermediate Course is a direct continuation of the Windfire Yoga Foundation Course, which is a preparatin for it. The Dynamic Yoga Form week is eligible to anyone whose completion of the Windfire Yoga Foundation Course has effectively prepared them for the transition to selfpractice. However, experienced students who already enjoy regular self-practice are welcome to attend the Self Practice week which begins on Sunday with an introduction to the Dynamics of Integrity, which will be further clarified on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons.

The Dynamic Yoga Intermediate Course classes allow you to devlelop a rich, challenging, satisfying and ongoing selfpractice. There are three linked modules, that can be fruitfully repeated any number of times. They give you a firm, variable basis for your own yoga practice at home. This is based on familiarising you with almost 200 yoga postures and up to 15 pranayama and meditation techniques which you can then use as the basis of your own, endlessly adaptable, self practice at home.

The Form Module focusses on the form of the postures. It clarifies the fact that all postures share the same internal dynamic of integrity. This is the application of the bandhas to each and every part of the body (sarvangabandha). The mechanical, structural and energetic dynamics of the bandhas are used to integrate intention, attention, action, energy and structure. The yoga postures used in all these classes clarify most easily the dynamics of integrity, and establish the basis for selfpractice. They are presented in the Vinyasanixisya practice series. The activation of the bandhas from the breath is taught as a complement to their structural invitation. There are five morning and afternoon classes.

The Practice Module uses postures learned in the form module as the basis of four different practice formats. The Vinyasayogasya Practice Series (monday, thursday) which focusses on deep structural reintegration, and the Vinyasavajrasya Practice Series (tuesday, friday) which focusses on safe mobilisation of the spine, the Vinyasadynasya Practice Series (wednesday) which focusses on nourishing the body and sustaining its capacities, and the Vinyasamuktasya Practice Series (tuesday afternoon, thursday afternoon) which focusses on deep psychosomatic release. Variations are shown to permit the sequences to be personalised according to ability and condition. There is much less instruction than in the Foundation Courses allowing you to deepen and clarify your internal awareness. This module will familiarise you with consistent practice formats that you can use as the basis of your own self practice. Practice sheets, personalised if necessary, will be provided to facilitate your progress in each seies. There are 5 morning classes, three afternoon classes each week.

The Self Practice Module allows you to choose, modify, refine and develop you own practice sequences under experienced guidance. Any sequence that works for you can be used, whether based on ashtanga, vinyasa, power, flow or any other yogastyle. Specific sequences for particular circumstances and intentions can be given. It is a fantastic opportunity to find support to base your own practice direcctly on the changing needs and capabilities of your own body. There are 5 morning classes, three afternoon classes each week. During the self practice week strong emphasis is given to the role of pranayama an d meditation in yoga practice. All participants are asked to start their practice to flow naturally into a guided pranayama practice that leads into a finishing meditation. For those who have not attended the Dynamic Yoga Foundation Course attendance of an introductory session on sunday is obligatory.
